With the promise of “Award Winning Films in Higher Quality” Youtube unveils it’s new screening room of currated content. You can check out the first four films to be posted here. The site (in a press release I haven’t seen) touts the potential for rev share and even a ‘Buy Now’ button! Cause… after you’ve watched it for free… But good for Youtube, right? We’ll see how people react as advertising starts to trickle into the UGC giant. Like any corporate monster you’d expect deals for shorts will only be with larger distribution groups (NFB, Shorts Unlimited) so will independents feel any love?
