WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the best part is...not only is there a bumper crop of GREAT titles...but they cover a nice span between the late 30's and the late 50's (including some B & W titles...and we haven't seen ANY B & W titles yet!)

This is going to make the wait, that much more difficult!

Thanks to BPearce for the heads up! dxsmile.gif

best part is, I think some of the blue-ribboned title will be shown with original

I defenatly think "Book Revue" will be restored with original titles, because I read somewhere that UCLA Film and Television Archive have the short with original titles and is lending Warners to use it. This would be cool, since for many years, we only seen the version with the title misspelled to "Book Review"

It would also be cool if that meant the bookend Alexander Woolcott caracature had been restored!

A little heavy on the Road Runner, but I can handle it! I can't wait to see the restorations on THE HECKLING HARE and TORTOISE BEATS HARE. And I'm curious about what extras will be included.

You bet Gordan!

In fact, both of these cartoons are the first Looney Tunes titles that I can think of (that fell into the 1933-1948 period), that were NOT included on the "Golden Age of Looney Tunes" laserdisc boxsets. So for me, these are very special selections!

Those two weren't on the Golden Age Of Looney Tunes laserdiscs because that set only included cartoons owned by Ted Turner. Turner only owned the cartoons that had been sold to a.a.p. back in 1956 - this package included all the color cartoons made before 1948, and all but one of the Harman-Ising Merrie Melodies. Warner Bros. owned the rest of the B&W cartoons.

I didn't know that...thanks for the clarification! Would you (or anyone else) know which of the Harman Ising Merrie Melodies was NOT owned by WB?

The breakdown by director is:

Freleng: 9 Tweety, 13 others
Jones: 11 Road Runner, 11 others
Clampett: 8
Avery: 4
Tashlin: 1
Hardaway and Dalton: 1

The set is sort of splitting the difference between buyers who want most or all the shorts starring a particular character (so we get all 11 Road Runner cartoons from their best period, 1952 to 1958) and those who want more of a mix (hence the fourth disc of minor and one-shot characters). It's a good mix. Anything that introduces people to "The Dover Boys" is great. ("Unhand her, Dan Backslide!"). It breaks down into: Disc 1, Bugs Bunny. Disc 2, Road Runner, Porky & Daffy part 1. Disc 3, Sylvester and Tweety, Porky & Daffy part 2. Disc 4, All-Stars.
