Lee Burack sent Cartoon Brew an image, posted on CNN today, of a "new" Bugs Bunny.

Yech. He looks about as emotionally embraceable as one of those anime cyborg-characters.
Why was he 'redesigned' anyway? Who comissioned a Bugs Bunny 'update"? |

My only guess is they redesigned him to fit in the Batman Beyond world. I didn't see it but I heard Daffy was redesigned too and it is to match SpongeBob design but I do not think that matches SpongeBob, I was expecting a simpler design for Bugs not this. My parents heard it on the news this morning.

I don’t understand why mess up well-established classic characters,
Don’t they have anything better to do? I’m not talking about anything in particular, but this is definitely not the only case. If they know to how to draw well, but can’t evoke life in a new character, they might as well do their own garbage and admit it’s garbage, and not ruin what others have put their heart and soul into. esepcially not known and loved icons. |

Did they throw water on Bugs, or feed him after midnight?

This show is probably going to be absolutely terrible like almost all of the Looney Tunes TV spinoffs. But that Bugs design is pretty badass, I'm sorry. It goes against the Looney Tune philosophy and foundation, I know. But if that were a design for a generic or "Bugs-alike" character for a TV show today, it would be a great design. I think the issue is, is it right for Bugs? Well, is it right for Bugs to have superpowers? The whole concept is retarded and, like Baby Looney Tunes, noone is going to buy into it.

QUOTE (dghez @ Feb 16 2005, 11:53 AM) Check www.michaelbarrier.com for more info! Didier Thanks for the link, Didier! Looks like this isn't a redesign of Bugs Bunny, per se. At least no more than Buster Bunny was (if that, in deed, was the name of that loveable li'l Tiny Toons character). QUOTE Warner Bros. has created angular, slightly menacing-looking versions of the classic Looney Tunes characters for its new series, dubbed 'Loonatics' and set in the year 2772. Names for the new characters haven't been finalized, but they are likely to be derived from the originals: Buzz Bunny, for example. Each new character retains personality quirks of the original. ...furthermore... QUOTE 'The new series will have the same classic wit and wisdom, but we have to do it more in line with what kids are talking about today,'says Sander Schwartz, president of Warner Bros. Animation. The plots are action-oriented, filled with chases and fights. Each character possesses a special crime-fighting power. Why does this series have to be set in the year 2772 in order to deal with "what kids are talking about today?" Wouldn't that make everything nearly 800 years out of date? Sounds like concept overload... |

This has all the appeal of a Disney direct-to-video release.
Or a 3-D Popeye. How about just directing all these resources toward remastering the classics? |

That's just too scarry.
Either Bugs was tricked into drinking a bucket of acid, or someone is finding an answer to Sega's Dark Sonic the Hedgehog. -------------------- WHO R U?
