From my angry ramblings at another Cartoon Faroum yesterday:


It seems that all this talk about how the Tom & Jerry 2-item DVD set will be uncut and uncensored is just a bunch of cr*p !!!!!!

Not only do we not get Mammy Two-Shoes, but the blackface gags from three cartoons seem to have been cut as well.

This is the worst piece of animation news in months. What happened to all the promises that this will be an uncut, uncensored collector's edition DVD set? Are people at Warner Bros really this clueless?

God, I am so freakin' angry...

I am not buying this set now..Even though I have really been lookin' forward to this release, I am in no way going to support a big corporation's ignorance, arrogance, perfidious-ness, cluelessness, patronization, etc.

What's the point of this set, I wonder? There were less cuts on TOM & JERRY'S GREATEST CHASES.

This is truly unacceptable.

We should tell Warner Bros how we feel about this.

Again, I want this set so badly, but I don't want to support this outrageous butchering of classical animation, especially when it is advertised that we are getting uncut originals.

They must know about Disney Tresures at Warner Bros by now. If they are so afraid of offending someone, why don't they let Leonard Maltin (or Jerry Beck in this case) properly contextualize these cartoons ??!!!

The truth is - various marginalized groups are not the ones who get offended by these stupid cartoony gags - it is the hypocritical liberal white people who give themselves the right to get offended ON BEHALF OF OTHER GROUPS.

If WB wants to hide Mammy Two-Shoes- FINE! Don't include her in the set!
If they don't want to show black-face gags - FINE! Don't include cartoons with these gags in the set!

But, don't give us altered, censored, butchered episodes with all the quasi-offensive material removed and, then, claim that you're giving us uncut and uncensored collector's DVDs !!!!!!

First it was FANTASIA.
Then, REN & STIMPY.
Now TOM & JERRY.

This is really, really too much and it insults my intelligence waaaaaaay more than any ethnic/racial/violent/sexist gag from the 1930s or 1940s!!!!
