sorry to open a non cartoon topic, but I wanted to ask for opinions on the following:
Hollywood tries to make a retro-revival of some tv show every year, this year we have a few -- like 'Bewitched' with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrel. but what I really couldn't believe was ---THE HONEYMOONERS! I don't have to tell you what bugged my eyes, you can see for yourself. I never thought anybofy would make THAT much of a stretch! but let's leave that alone, just the idea of making such a landmark in TV history into a few box office bucks makes me very upset. |

QUOTE (jford_1 @ Jun 4 2005, 12:27 AM) The Honeymooners will always be Gleason and Carney etc....... ...hold it, son.... even the Great One himself knew Audrey Meadows' value and talent as Alice; 'tain't easy to hold your own on the same stage as Gleason. That said, this "remake" bites more'n the latest Disney cheapquel... Audrey meadows was great and the best ALice. She was the smartest negotiating for royalties in peretuity even back in 54, I think. They gave it to her, repeats not even a concept back then. My joke about Alice being replaced was that there have been about 4 Alices. Perse Knelton (spelling?) who was like the first as it began as a skit in 1952. She would actually return to play ALice's mom sometimes. There was another in 62 on the Jackie Gleason show and then Shiela Macrae (Meridith's [Petticoat Junction] mom). And the Audrey again. |
