In the past few weeks, Adult Swim has been airing the forgotten 80's toon, 'Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos' at the tail end of the block. But what's even more suspicious is the news i've been hearing of Adult Swim airing reruns of (Are you ready for this) 'Saved By The Bell' at midnight. Now 'Saved By The Bell' is better than the crap that passes for 'teenybopper' shows, (Disney Channel, i'm looking at you) but it really dosen't belong on Adult Swim. The only 'adult' connection it has is Liz Berkley's involvment with 'Showgirls', and the only 'animation' connection it has is (again) Liz Berkley doing voice work on the english dub for the anime 'Artimage III'.

This doesn't surprise me. I've been waking up at 4am CST and seeing The Gary Coleman Show and Super Globetrotters on Adult Swim. I guess it's Adult Swim's idea to be hip and irreverent by showing the most God-awful animated garbage Hanna-Barbera ever produced. Between this and Cartoon Network's insistence on showing non-animated movies, they might as well change the station's name to Crap That Kids Will Sit Through.

(Sarcasm mode on) I'm wating for Toon Disney to take all the live action crap from Disney Channel, put it on their schedule, and have cartoon characters tear it to shreds ala 'Mystery Science Theater 3000', but since Disney dosen't have a sence of humor, i doubt that will happen any time soon. (Sarcasm mode off) Getting back on topic, i think Cartoon Network dosen't realize that April Fools Day is over.

I'm starting to lose hope in the Cartoon...uh.....Partially-Cartoon Network. Betcha within a year all cartoons will be gone; replaced by crap that TV Land would never touch. Anyone up for an episode of "The Chicago Teddy Bears"?

More, and more, i feel like i'm abandoned by the channels i use to like, and as an aspiring cartoonist, i feel like the entertainment industry is abandoning cartoons in favor of live action garbage! I'm starting to think that cartoons (or quality shows, for that matter) are like 'kryptonite' to average folks out there! As if the 'cartoons are for kids' manrta has come back into the minds of network execs who we thought finally had a clue about animation, but have reverted back to their old ways. 'Who cares about these silly old cartoons anymore when we could be looking for the next 'American Idol!'. (gag me!)

In the spirit of channels staying true to their vision… This next statement sounds odd, even to me, but I am one of the founders of New Screen TV. With a great deal of passion, and the hard work of thousands of filmmakers, we have developed a truly independent TV channel.
Please visit our site, www.newscreen.tv, and please spread the word. We have an animation deadline coming up next week and a student deadline next month. Mark Astrom – New Screen TV |

I often fall asleep watching Adult Swim and was also startled to see that mind-numblingly dull "Saved By The Bell"--gad, what could they be thinking? If they want hip irony, they could always dredge up more dreck from the HB vaults like "The Little Clowns of Happytown", guaranteed to induce vomiting faster than a blind date with Carl of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force cast. Or how about "Kissyfur"? The title alone could induce diabetes. Maybe they've got some old Clutch Cargo stashed away in the Turner vaults---they used to run it in the Pre-TBS days on the original WTCG Superstation.
