Add the complete "Las aventuras de Hijitus" series, although for the most part these cartoons will never have the original impact that I found when I was a very small child.

Woops!!
(Actually, I'm really happy with all my Sony releases. I think we already have all of the theatrical cartoons on DVD but I'd like to see some of the other Harveytoons/Noveltoons characters like Herman & Katnip, Baby Huey, etc. in a nice collection - perhaps something similair to what Papa John's is offering as promotion in the States, episodes of the "New Casper Cartoon Show" on DVD.)

What about a DVD with all the much praised but little seen 60s Paramount shorts made by Shamus Culhane and Ralph Bashki?

am01ne,
THat's some wish list! Maybe Santa can get you those for Christmas!

I would have to agree that to hold historical accuracy, I would want the bumpers and the original commericals too included!
Why enjoy classic cartoons and NOT have the flavor of the 'entire' elasped time of the original program.

Mighty Mouse and ALL of the Mighty Mouse series, including the more recent ones like the Bakshi MM series of the late 80's.
I see that there are ones available on ebay, but they are copied off of tv. I want Viacom to invest in taking all of his cartooon and re-mastering them for DVD.
This would be a good idea for them to do this since next year (2005) marks the 50th anniversary of the "Mighty Mouse Playhouse". It would be great to see a special anniversary set of this original series on DVD.
Hey, I did not grow up on this series, like most of his fans did, but I know that this should be done ;)
So, my vote is for Mighty Mouse and I am surprised to see that not many other of you posted a vote for him. But, Mighty Mouse is who I'd like to see on DVD.

Can anyone tell me, who did the animation for the Dr. Seuss cartoons? And are Dr. Seuss' work on DVD? That would be another vote in my list first posted.
I thought about this one, when realizing that "Horton Hears a Who' and another Horton cartoon was done by Merrie Melodies in the 1940's. Has either of these two appreard on a LT DVD package, or has copywrite from the Dr. Seuss estate keeping these out of future LT box sets?

They most certainly are available and are a treasured part of my DVD collection!
Assuming you're reffering to the original ABC/CBS specials that aired throughout the 70's and early 80's, they were all produced and distributed through Depatie-Freleng Studios and as for the programs themselves, they would go as follows:
The Cat In The Hat (1971) - Directed by Hawley Pratt.
The Lorax (1972) - Directed by Hawley Pratt.
Dr. Seuss On The Loose (1973) - Directed by Hawley Pratt.
Halloween is Grinch Night (1977) - Directed by Gerald Baldwin.
Pontoffel Pock, Where Are You? (1980) - Directed by Gerald Baldwin.
The Grinch Grinches The Cat In The Hat (1982) - Directed by Bill Perez.
As for the animators, I only know that Don Williams, Bob Richardson, Dick Thompson, Norm McCabe and Virgil Ross worked on a number of these specials and Chuck Jones, Friz Frleng, David DePatie and of course Ted Geisel all lent their production oversights.
You can purchase the complete box-set of the Dr. Seuss Animated Classics
here at Amazon.com for only $35.98 + Shipping.
I also have brand new extra copies of each disc that I'd be willing to sell for $25 US total. Send me a p.m. if interested, they're highly recommended!!!

Don't forget one other DFE Dr. Seuss special "Hoober Bloob High Way" directed by Alan Zaslov.
Chuck Jones also did two Dr. Seuss specials "Horton Hears a Who" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". "Cat in the Hat" was to be made a Jones by went to DFE instead. That's why Jones' credit is seen in the credits.

Forgot about that one Cartoon Fan, and it's one of my favorites!
It's also featured on The Lorax disc I believe.
I always wondered why Chuck Jones recieved such prominent opening credit on the Cat In The Hat since he didn't direct the but you can easily see where his influences and trademarks were put to effect. I am sure that he must have put some work in on the character designs or early storyboarding if in fact he wasn't commissioned by DFE to lend his insight and overview. Any idea why it ended up switching over to Depatie-Freleng in the first place since the original Grinch and Hortone were easily two of his biggest commercial successes in regards to these Seuss specials?

To tell you the truth, I don't know why "Cat in the Hat" project went to Friz Freleng's studio after it began in Jones studio.
I wonder if this had to do with some of Jones staff going to DFE. I believe Richard Thompson worked there briefly. (I saw his name in the animators credit of "Support Your Local Serpent" and "The Lorax")

You guys are making me dizzy. I'd like to see the new Ren & Stimpys on DVD. I don't know how we'll see them otherwise.
As long as we're dreaming, how about some Fleischer rarities, like
"Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy", and a collection of "Screen Songs".
And, as much as I appreciate what VCI did, I would love to see
the master elements used for the best possible collection of "Color Classics". I mean, as long as you're dreaming..............
