Problems posting in the forums?

Over the last year we’ve had a huge rise in attacks from spammers here on the site. The Animation Show Forums have been the main message board for the show for the last five years but many find it difficult now to join in for discussion. If you’re just starting out the process for sign up is to register here. On our end, twice a day we log on and look at all the people that have signed to post up and try to weed out all the obvious spam. Generally they make it simple for us by including their sex/pharmaceutical/real-estate spam info as their display name but often we have pages and pages of display name gibberish. Registration requests for Gggm8r22_00 or some other nonsense. When spammers do get through we’re left sifting through thirty thousand + posts and deleting all of the junk ads. With everything else we’re juggling there isn’t time for that type of upkeep. But the downside is the number of casually interested that find the forums and can’t join in. For some Gggm8r22_00 is the dream display name and who am I to profile right? SO, in the interests of trying to get as much fresh blood into the forums as possible here is the quickest way to gain entry…

1) try to keep from a gibberish display name. (tough I know, glmpa682 is so very appealing when you find ‘imacartoonnerd’ has been taken).
2) After you register hit the tool bar in the forums at the very top of the page nav marked ‘contact’ and drop us a line w/ your display name and the e-mail address you signed up with. Just takes two seconds and we get the message and can approve you asap.
3) IF you’re a spammer reading this and think you’ve just cracked the system… Know that I prosecute spammers with more than fists of fury sucka! we...will...find..you!

Thank you all and here’s to a better forum!
